Check where the data comes from and whether each result can be traced to its original source, how quickly critical lists are updated, how the provider handles false positives, and what the response contains. Also ask what support the provider offers during build and testing, and how audit records of searches and decisions are kept.
Run the same sample of names through each provider you are considering and compare match quality, false positives, source traceability and update speed. Use real names from your own customer base where possible, because test data rarely reflects the name variations, aliases and scripts you will see in production.
